Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 19 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. Admitted to 15th Field Ambulance, 15 March 1917 (trench feet); invalided to England, 28 March 1917, and admitted to 2nd Eastern General Hospital, Brighton, 29 March 1917. Transferred to 3rd Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 18 April 1917. Discharged and granted furlough, 30 April 1917, to report to No. 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 15 May 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 26 July 1917; rejoined unit, 14 August 1917.
