Wounded in action, Belgium, 2 October 1917 (shell wound, left thigh), and admitted to 3rd Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred to 10th Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 23, 3 October 1917, and admitted to 12th General Hospital, Rouen, 4 October 1917; transferred to 2nd Convalescent Depot, 13 October 1917; to 11th Convalescent Depot, Buchy, 22 October 1917 (gun shot wound, left thigh); to Base Depot, Havre, 29 November 1917; rejoined Bn, in the field, 19 December 1917.
