Bar to Military Medal

'At BELLICOURT and NAUROY on 29th/20th September and 1st October 1918. For bravery and devotion to duty. During the advance over the open against LE CATELET TRENCH on 29th September 1918, and under very heavy Machine Gun fire, he used his Lewis gun with coolness and skill in giving covering firing during the advance of his Platoon. He inflicted casualties and afterwards helped in an attack against an enemy Machine Gun in the trench, and successfully dealt with enemy as he retired across the open. He advanced his Gun under heavy Machine gun and artillery fire and covered the retirement of another Platoon and gave assistance in bringing in wounded under fire.'
