War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Embarked Alexandria to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force (Gallipoli Campaign), 12 April 1915. Tried by Field General Court Martial, Gallipoli, 28 June 1915, on charge of disobeying in such a manner as to show a wilful defiance of authority the lawful command of his superior officer in the execution of his office: awarded 1 year's imprisonment with hard labour, and forfeiture of a total of 195 days' pay. Arrived Alexandria, 15 June 1915. Escape from Military Prison, 21 October 1915. Court of Enquiry, 27 February 1919, declared he had illegally absented himself in Egypt on 21 October 1915, and that was still so absent.' Medals: forfeited eligibility for medals. |
