War service: Egypt, Gallipoli Embaked Melbourne, 22 December 1914. Proceeded to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force, Gallipoli, 12 April 1915. Wounded in action, 3 May 1915 (gun shot wound, head), and admitted to HS 'Gloucester Castle'; transferred to Kasr el Aini Hospital, Cairo, 11 May 1915; discharged to Convalescent Depot, Helouan, 1 June 1915. Embarked for Gallipoli, 4 July 1915. Wounded in action (second occasion), 21 August 1915 bullet wound, left foot), and admitted to 4th Field Ambulance; transferred to Mudros same day, and thence to England, 25 August 1915, and admitted to Whitechapel Hospital, London, 9 September 1915. Commenced return to Australia from Portland on board HT 'Star of England', 12 December 1915; disembarked Melbourne, 29 January 1916; discharged, Melbourne, 25 July 1916.
