Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations of BRAY on 22nd August, 1918. Private LEATH did excellent work throughout the operation as Company Signaller. As soon as the final objective was reached, he immediately got into communication with the two most advanced Companies and although subjected to very heavy machine gun and artillery fire, persevered with his work, 20 minutes after arriving at the final objective, he was in telephonic communication with Battalion Headquarters. His good work in obtaining speedy communication under most trying circumstances set a magnificent example to all with whom he came in contact.'
