Military Medal

'During recent operation on 30th September/1st October, 1918 at NAUROY for gallant conduct and devotion to duty. This man did excellent work as a runner in maintaining communication between Company Headquarters and the front line, on many occasions passing through very heavy artillery fire, but in every case persisting in his work without regard for his own personal safety. His devotion to duty was a splendid example to his comrades.'
