Military Medal 'During the action 16th/22nd September 1917, east of YPRES, both these men [LEE and 1979 G.S. LEE], during duty as Battalion runners, particularly distinguished themselves by repeatedly taking messages from Battalion Headquarters to Cos. under the heaviest barrage fire, where all telephone communication had been cut. By their devotion to duty, communication was maintained at a critical period.'
