Admitted to 15th General Hospital, Alexandria, 10 October 1915 (jaundice); transferred to 1st Australian General Hospital, Cairo,14 October 1915; to Helouan Convalescent Camp, 25 October 1915. Rejoined 9th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 4 January 1916.

Transferred to 49th Bn, 25 February 1916; to 4th Pioneer Bn, 16 March 1916. Promoted Major, 27 May 1916.

Proceeded from Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 4 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, 11 June 1916.

To Officers' School, Aldershot, England, 12 October 1916. Completed course of instruction and granted leave from 24 December 1916.

Proceeded overseas to France, 6 January 1917; rejoined unit, 10 January 1917. Transferred to 25th Bn, 25 January 1917, to be Major, supernumerary to establishment.

Killed in action, 20 March 1917.
