Medals |
Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry near Etinchem on night of 12th-13th August, 1918, when in charge of two guns sent forward with the infantry. After disposing his guns for the defence of the new position he reconnoitred the surrounding area and came on a party of the enemy, whom he fired on with his revolver. On their bolting into a dug out he stood over the mouth and called on them to surrender. They did so to the number of sixty, and with the help of two other men he marched them to an infantry post, and then returned to his guns. He showed great courage and initiative.'
