'For continuous devotion to duty and consistent coolness and bravery in action. For over two years this Gunner has carried the duties of Battery Linesman and rendered most valuable service in the following operations - SOMME 1916, BULLECOURT - MESSINES - YPRES 1917. Again at the capture of MERRIS in July 1918 Gunner LESLIE was one of the Brigade F.O.O. party, when he rendered most valuable service restoring communication under heavy shell fire.'
