Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For gallantry on 18 September, 1918, in the attack on the Hindenburg outposts near Ascension Wood. He delivered rations up to the company after the first part of the attack had taken place. On hearing that the attack was to continue, he led the bombing attack on an enemy trench that was holding out.'
