Medals |
Military Medal 'Showed great determination and devotion to duty during the five hours bombardment and enemy riad on HOUPLINES Left Sub-sector on 22nd January, 1917. He was in charge of a Lewis gun in the front line with only No. 803 Private J. LIDDELL, who acted as No. 2. While under heavy shelling he opened fire on the raiders as they advanced and during their retreat, and inflicted many casualties. His determined action in standing to his gun under heavy fire contributed largely to the repulse of the raid.'
