Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Capturing a German Machine gun in the attack on POLYGON WOOD on 26th September 1917, he kept it in action for 3 days, causing many casualties among the enemy. During the whole of the action he showed great courage and coolness.'
