Military Medal 'For conspicuous devotion to duty and gallantry on the night 24th/25th April 1918 during the operations near VILLERS-BRETONNEUX. His duty as a Linesman was so cheerfully performed during heavy shelling and under constant machine gun fire, that his example had a good moral effect on other signallers. He was wounded on 25th on other signallers. He was wounded on 25th April whilst repairing a broken line in a very exposed position.'
