Distinguished Conduct Medal 'During the clearing of the town of Peronne, 1st and 2nd September, 1918, this N.C.O.'s platoon was repeatedly held up by machine gun nests. With remarkable courage and initiation he destroyed each in turn. During the consolidation he went forward with two men and closely reconnoitred the enemy position, bringing back valuable information.'
