Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For very gallant conduct and devotion to duty. Throughout the whole period from 1 April to September 1918, he has taken active part in all operations in which the battalion was concerned, carrying out his duties with skill and courage of the highest order. His ability and command have many times saved his platoon from a difficult situation. His zeal in his work has always been unflagging.'
