Military Medal

'At BRAY, on the morning of the 24th August, 1918, this N.C.O. commended his platoon in excellent style; when the position was consolidated he was responsible for the protection of the party consolidating. A German patrol appearing, he challenged them and as they offered resistance, he opened fire killing one and wounding two. He captured the remaining three. After a German gun had been mounted by us in our own line, a German voice was heard calling as if for the patrol. By a series of imitating calls and firing the enemy gun, he succeeded in decoying the Germans near to the gun and then captured them.'
