Proceeded overseas to France, 22 November 1916. Killed in action, 8 June 1917. Statement, Red Cross File, 10 CQMS L.C. TURNER, 37th Bn, 23 November 1917: 'Pte J. Beck was one of my cooks and was on his way to the line on the day of the 8th. June with his three mates. They were going up to try and give the lads of the company something hot when they were struck by a shell and Jack was killed instantly. His other three mates were wounded.'
