'At VILLERET on the 18th September, 1918, Private LOWREY was responsible for the capture of two enemy machine guns and three of their team. When nearing the Line of Exploitation, this soldier noticed a number of Germans working their way down a communication trench. He made off by himself and engaged them with a Phosphorus Bomb, causing the enemy to halt. He made forward and captured two of the enemy's machine guns, shooting one of the crew who attempted to resist. By this boldness, the remainder surrendered, and was the means of wiping out a strong point which would later have proved very troublesome.'
