Military Medal 'During operations on 8th and 9th August 1918 Sergeant LOWRIE displayed the highest courage, devotion to duty and utter disregard of personal safety. He was in command of a platoon during the advance and displayed marked qualities as a leader and organiser. He kept his platoon well in hand during the morning of the 8th August when the advance was made through a very dense fog and on 9th his platoon under his directions, assisted greatly by means of Lewis Gun and Rifle Fire in subduing the enemy posts holding up the advance in a sunken road. His work generally was of a very high standard and he was of the utmost assistance to his Company Commander.'
