Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and determination. He was guiding the battalion in an advance when the leading company was thrown forward to fill a gap of 300 yards and to clear a wood. He took control of the left platoons, and, owing to his good leadership and initiative the wood was surrounded and 100 prisoners were captured.'
