Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Although wounded he did valuable work in organizing his company at a time when they were suffering from the effects of a gas shell, greatly encouraging his men by his cheerfulness and courage. He had done excellent work in connexion with a previous raid on enemy trenches.'
