Transferred to 71st Squadron, AFC, Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, 2 April 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 11 December 1917. Regraded as Assistant Armourer (Non-Technical), 16 September 1918. On leave to Glasgow, Scotland, 21 November-5 December 1918; rejoined 4th Squadron AFC, in the field, 16 December 1918. Marched out to England, 10 January 1919; marched in to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 15 January 1919. Found guilty, 1 February 1919, of being absent without leave, 2369, 30 January, to 2200, 31 January 1919: admonished, and forfeited 1 day's pay.
