Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry during operations at Peronne, 1st and 2nd September, 1918. This N.C.O. was in charge of a platoon, and his daring and skilful leadership helped greatly to keep the men together. He kept on the offensive, and by his initiative was responsible for the capture of an enemy post of one officer, nine men, and two machine guns.'
