Wounded in action, 8 August 1916 (shell shock); transferred to England, 9 August 1916, and admitted to Middlesex War Hospital, Napsbury, 10 August 1916.

Admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, Wandsworth. 5 December 1916 (gun shot wound, right eye).

Admitted to 1st Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 15 March 1917; discharged to Command Depot, 19 May 1917; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 66 days.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Nestor', 22 July 1917; discharged (medically unfit), Adelaide, 20 March 1918.
