Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. An enemy shell ignited an ammunition dump. He at once jumped into the pit and with his hands pulled out the burning cartrisges, threw earth on the fire, and succeeded in extinguishing it, thus averting a serious catastrophe.'
