Military Medal

'Near WESTHOEK on 20th September 1917 he was one of the party which captured ANZAC and GARTER Point. Later he repeatedly carried messages under fire between two separated posts in our line. Although not a Lewis Gunner he attached himself to a gun crew which had been badly knocked about and gave a great amount of assistance in keeping the gun in action. He showed great coolness and steadiness under shell fire.'
