Distinguished Conduct Medal 'He has been with the battalion since its formation in February 1916, and has at all times displayed great gallantry, efficiency and devotion to duty. In the operations at Bullecourt in May 1917, he personally led the ration parties forward to the front line every night, often under heavy shell fire and difficult conditions.'
