War service: Egypt, Western Front Allotted to and proceeded to join 46th Bn, 16 March 1916; joined 46th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 17 March 1916. Embarked Alexandria, 28 May 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 10 June 1916. Found guilty, 9 August 1916, of overstaying leave from 2400, 6 August, until 2200, 9 August 1916: awarded forfeiture of 3 days' pay, and forfeited an additional 3 days' pay under Royal Warrant. Proceeded overseas to France, 1 December 1916; taken on strength, 4th Divisional Ammunition Column, 13 December 1916. Appointed Shoeing Smith, 14 December 1916. Appointed Driver, 13 February 1917. Admitted to 6th Field Ambulance, 11 March 1917 (scabies), and transferred to scabies hospital; rejoined unit, in the field, 24 March 1917.
