Proeeded overseas to France, 14 June 1917; marched in to 3rd Australian Division Base Depot, Rouelles, 15 June 1917; taken on strength, 41st Bn, in the field, 12 July 1917.

Wounded in action, 1 August 1917 (shrapnel wound, abdomen); admitted same day to 11th Australian Field Ambulance; died of wounds, 2nd Casualty Clearing Station, 2 August 1917; buried same day, Trois Arbres Cemetery, Steenwerck.
