Military Medal 'During the period 6th to 18th April, 1918, near HANGARD, although attached for other duties, volunteered for duty as linesman and proved himself well worthy of recommendation. He, in company with Sapper CATO worked on telephone line maintenance with wonderful endurance. He worked backwards and forwards through the enemy fire repairing the lines, showing great determination and disregard for hostile fire, taking cover only when the communications were through. His courage and coolness at all times, and his excellent devotion to duty were very fine.'
