Military Medal 'At FLEURBAIX, FRANCE. In 9th Battalion raid on enemy's trenches on the night 1st/2nd July, 1916, owing to his bomber going down a sap he did his own bombing and drove an enemy Machine Gun team from their gun single handed and commenced unscrewing it from the stand. Subsequently with assistance he got the gun out and carried it across No Man's Land under fire. In his work all though the raid he showed great courage and coolness.'
