Military Medal 'On 9th August 1918 this Officer and Sergeant having become casualties, Corporal MAKEPEACE although wounded and badly shaken by a shell which put one of his gun crews out of action repeatedly showed himself a capable and skilful leader. During the advance East of HARBONNIERES he personally captured six prisoners who had been inflicting casualties by sniping our men. He handed over these prisoners to the Infantry and established his guns on the extreme flank of an Infantry Battalion where heavy opposition was encountered.'
