Proceeded overseas to France, 1 April 1918; taken on strength, 48th Bn, 6 April 1918.

Wounded in action, 8 August 1918 (gun shot wound, chest), and admitted to 8th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 83rd General Hospital, Boulogne, 9 August 1918; to England, 23 August 1918, and admitted to Bethnal Green Military Hospital, 24 August 1918. Transferred to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, 7 September 1918; discharged on furlough, 12 September 1918, to report to Littlemore Camp, Weymouth, 26 September 1918. Marched in to No 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 28 September 1918; marched in to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, from Weymouth, 10 October 1918. Marched out to Overseas Training Brigade, 14 November 1918.
