Military Medal 'During the operations of 8th August 1918, in front of HAMEL - VILLERS BRETONNEUX Driver MANKEY was the wheel driver when his gun team was proceeding to the rear wagon lines under heavy fire. This driver showed splendid courage in refusing to leave his horses, although severely wounded in the arms, until the gun had reached a place of safety. His courage and determination, although wounded are deserving of special recognition.'
