'As Battalion Bootmaker during the periods coverd by the despatch, he has worked zealously and untiringly in the interests of the men, often under the most trying conditions. He has worked long hours whilst the men were resting, in order to cope with his work. By his devotion to duty and soldierly bearing he has set a fine example to all ranks.'
