War service: Western Front Embarked Sydney on HMAT 'Beltana', 25 November 1916. Forfeited 1/- on account of not having complete mess kit, 19 January 1917; disembarked Devonport, 25 January 1917. Proceeded to France through Folkestone, 3 May 1917; marched into Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 4 May 1917; marched out to 4th Pioneer Bn, 7 May 1917 and taken on strength, 8 May 1917; marched into 4th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Havre, 6 December 1917; assessed as having debilities, 13 December 1917. Proceeded to England, 23 December 1917; and marched into No. 2 Command Depot, Weymouth, 24 December 1917. Commenced return to Australia on HT 'Balmoral Castle', 1 February 1918; disembarked, 25 February 1918.
