Military Medal 'At POZIERES, FRANCE, on 21st. August 1916, Pte. MANSER was the first man to enter a strong post in O.G.1. containing a machine gun and with bombs and his bayonet accounted for 8 of the enemy machine gunners, bayoneted one as he was in the act of firing the gun and captured the enemy gun which he took to his company Commander a distance of 70 yards. He prevented his company getting a lot of casualties and was quite exhausted by his exertions.'
