Wounded in action, 26 September 1917 (shrapnel wound, thigh), and admitted to 3rd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station; transferred to 18th General Hospital, Camiers, 27 September 1917; to 6th Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 20 October 1917; to 4th Australian Division Base Depot, Etaples, 24 October 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 11 December 1917.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 29 June 1918 (shrapnel wound, right shoulder, right hand), and admitted to 4th Australian Field Ambulance; transferred to 5th Casualty Clearing Station, 30 June 1918; to 3rd Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, 1 July 1918; to England, 13 July 1918, and admitted to War Hospital, Warren Road, Guildford, 18 July 1918. Transferred to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 2 August 1918; discharged on furlough, 21 August 1918, to report to No 4 command Depot, Hurdcott, 4 September 1918.
