Military Medal 'On the night of 21st/22nd September 1917, near Glencorse Wood, East of HOOGE, he succeeded in winning through to the R.A.P. of the 9th and 10th Battalions and evacuating wounded under heavy enemy shell fire and over a very difficult route, after other bearers had failed to do so. He displayed great skill and coolness and set an exceptionally fine example to his men throughout the whole night, and is thoroughly deserving of recognition.'
