'During the attack East of MONT ST. QUENTIN near PERONNE on 2nd September 1918, this man was a Runner, and made many very dangerous trips over fire swept country, carrying messages. His bravery was the means of maintaining communication for many hours during the most intense and critical phases of the battle.'
