Distinguished Conduct Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. A refilling point for ammunition was bombarded by the enemy while waggons and motor lorries were unloading ammunition. Casualties were caused among the personnel and animals, and the road leading to the dump was destroyed. He at once organized a breakdown party and, after carrying away the wounded, repaired the road and enabled the vehicle to get clear of the dump. His initiative and courage were a magnificent example to all ranks.'
