Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during a raid on enemy trenches near DERNANCOURT, South West of ALBERT, on the night of June 19th/20th 1918. Private MARTIN was acting as a stretcher-bearer, and although wounded before the trench was reached, he carried on with his work of evacuating the wounded. He later returned with another stretcher-bearer to search for one of our raiding party who was wounded and missing. Private MARTIN throughout the operation set a fine example of courage and coolness.'
