Private MARTIN was acting as a stretcher-bearer, and although wounded before the trench was reached, he carried on with his work of evacuating the wounded. He later returned with another stretcher-bearer to search for one of our raiding party who was wounded and missing. Private MARTIN throughout the operation set a fine example of courage and coolness.'
