War service: Western Front Embarked Melbourne, 16 December 1916; disembarked Plymouth, England, 18 February 1917, and marched into 15th Training Bn, Hurdcott, the same day. Found guilty, 19 June 1917, of neglecting to obey a routine order, 15 June 1917: award, admonished. Admitted to No 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, 25 June 1917 (venereal disease); discharged, 19 September 1917, and marched into Convalescent Training Depot, Bulford, the same day; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 87 days. Marched into No 1 Command Depot, Perham Downs, 27 September 1917, and classified 'B1A4'. Marched into No 15 Training Bn, Codford, 15 November 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 4 December 1917; marched into 5th Australian Divisional Base Depot, Le Havre, 5 December 1917. Proceeded to unit, 8 December 1917; taken on strength of 58th Bn, in the field, 11 December 1917. Posted as absent without leave, 13 August 1918. Court of Enquiry, held in the field, 16 September 1918, declares Pte. MASON as illegally absent. Traced, 4 October 1918.
