'For his bravery and devotion to duty while his Company was advancing to reinforce firing line after enemy attack near DERNANCOURT South West of Albert on March 28th, 1918. Under very heavy barrage he carried wounded men to shelter and although himself loaded with Lewis Gun Panniers of his own section he carried for the gun of a section whose crew were all casualties.'
