Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry at Chuignes, 23 August, 1918. When hostile machine guns were enfilading two platoons, he worked along a trench under heavy fire and bombed two machine guns, capturing one and inflicting casualties on the crew of another. By his prompt action he materially assisted the advance.'
