Military Medal 'For conspicuous courage and devotion to duty at BROODSEINDE RIDGE. During the attack on 4th October, 1917, this man acted as a runner, and without hesitation traversed the most heavily shelled areas with information and despatches. Later, under most trying weather conditions and when his Company was depleted by casualties, he acted as a signaller, remaining on duty without respite for 20 hours, and performing his duty in a splendid manner. He proved of great use in the maintenance of communication from our forward posts.'
