Distinguished Service Order 'During the attack near Villeret, on 18th September, 1918, he displayed great gallantry and devotion to duty whilst attending to the wounded. In consequence of his excellent organisation for clearing the wounded, he was able to keep in touch with the advance, constantly moving his aid post forward with the barrage, and maintaining liaison with the attacking companies throughout. He showed great disregard of danger under heavy artillery and machine gun fire, and by his skill saved many lives.'
