Admitted to No 2 Stationary Hospital, Port Said, 30 August 1916 (septic ulcers); discharged to Base, 24 September 1916; rejoined 3rd Light horse Regiment, Kantara, 26 September 1916. Appointed Lance Corporal, 7 November 1916; Temporary Corporal, 10 June 1917; relinquished rank of Temporary Corporal, 27 July 1917. Attended 28th Hotchkiss Gun Course, Imperial School of Instruction; classified Instructor (date/s not recorded). Appointed Corporal, Essni, 14 September 1917.
